A moment of our time – part 13

I have just been reading a Yale 360 article, https://e360.yale.edu/features/vanishing-borneo-saving-one-of-worlds-last-great-places-palm-oil, unrelated to part 13 of A Moment of Our Time below but it did give me pause to think and to push my mind across to other parts of the planet. Just think in this moment huge trees are being brutally chopped down, trees that have stood for 100s of years. Every moment and countless more trees ending their lives and for what? For the makeup that you wear, the chocolate and the snacks we eat, the toothpaste that you brush your teeth with and many other products. All through our lives, the many years, in many of the moments the destruction has been continuing to provide us with things that we take for granted and pick up without thinking of where they come from or what damage they cause. In those moments creatures have died, species gone extinct but still we humans want more. There were as I have mentioned before an extra 80,000,000 humans added in the 366 days of 2020. Some of them will want the same things as us and more trees will fall in every moment. A good NGO to take a look at is this one for more information, https://bmf.ch/en. Part 13 of my work below.

“It is interesting that like the things local to us being important at any given moment of time the same could be said for exact physical location as well. We all know how to get to the train station or where the neighbour’s house is or how to get to the supermarket but these are positions relative to us. In general, places we know don’t move away from each other because the things most important to each of us are moving generally the same way. The Earth moves in a given second perhaps thirty kilometres around the sun but so too do we, the train station, the neighbour’s house and the supermarket. The solar system itself is spinning around the centre of our galaxy. The galaxy forms part of a local cluster of galaxies and beyond the cluster there are hundreds of billions more of them and every celestial body is moving relatively against the others.”
