A revisit to part 8 of my “A moment of our time”. Slightly altered because there are now 8,000,000,000 of us and there were only 7,800,000,000 when I wrote it a couple of years ago.
Have you ever contemplated what the other 8,000,000,000 other human beings are doing or thinking as you read the word moment? Cast your mind out there to the people around you, in the street, in your town and city, your country and then across the planet. There’s an awful lot of us and our collective actions are changing the planet in so many ways that they are changing the life support systems that have allowed us to get this far in our evolution. Below is part 8 of my piece of work, A Moment of our Time.
“Our thoughts about time are all related to our very short existence and humanity has invented stories that cannot be proved and over which we have killed each other in our millions for thinking or believing differently in. The matter and energy in our bodies has existed differently for the life of the universe, let us say for fourteen billion of the current revolutions of our planet around our very inconsequential star. Matter and energy has effectively flowed through our bodies during our lives and once we die, our complexity will be recycled into more simple forms to become we know not what. It will exist until the big crunch or whatever comes at the end of this universe in some form or another. Maybe some of the matter and energy in our bodies was in that proverbial dinosaur’s urine or formed part of sedimentary rocks. There does not seem to be anyway of ever knowing.”
