Revisiting part 37 of my A Moment of Our Time.
The human primate talks about progress but in a way that is disconnected from the damage that has been and is being caused to the planet. It’s not just in terms of resource extraction and use but in the way that human progress has altered fundamental planetary systems such as the CO2 cycle.
Progress
Think about all that progress at that moment
Think about all those ideas at that moment
Think about all those cranes lifting at that moment
Think about all those buildings being built at that moment
Think about all those new roads being built at that moment
Think about all those new hospitals being built at that moment
Think about all those new factories being built at that moment
Think about all those houses being built at that moment
Think about all those houses for sale at that moment
Think about all those houses being bought and sold at that moment
Think about all those houses being heated at that moment
Think about all those houses being cooled at that moment
Think about all those things being invented at that moment
Think about all those things being designed at that moment
Think about all those things being created at that moment
Think about all those cars being built at that moment
Think about all those people building cars at that moment
Think about all those robots building cars at that moment
Think about all those robots replacing people at that moment
Think about all those people designing AI at that moment
Think about all those planes being designed at that moment
Think about all those satellites being built at that moment
Think about all that cement being poured at that moment
Think about all the waste produced at that moment
Things may look the same but moments have passed and small changes have taken place
