The last gasp of neoliberal, exploitative capitalism that will either cause the planet to be uninhabitable for the human monkey or we will destroy it. There are only two options. Either we change as a species and the vacuencers and vacuous start seeing the bigger picture or we face a dire future with an increasing risk of human extinction. It’s not just about drastically reducing the burning of fossil fuels but a complete reset of human economics and justice for every human being.

We need to be finding spaces in our towns and cities where we can watch trees grow and decorate them year in and year out and not be decorating a dying tree, as seen here in the Place de la Palud, Lausanne, Switzerland.
The only way to fight for 1.5C above pre-industrial times against global corporations, climate change denial and the inactivists is to be informed and educated. Here’s a couple of good places to start by Michael E. Mann and Greta Thunberg.
Christmas or Capitalistismas? The Coop shopping centre in Morges, Switzerland. Most of what we see is very unnatural whether is be the materials used or the cultural appropriation by corporations intent on mass consumption whatever the deleterious effects are to Earth’s life support systems by that neoliberal consumerism.
There’s a possibility of power cuts this winter and some vulnerable people will probably freeze to death in the streets and some of them in their homes being too afraid to put the heating on. Hey, but we’re talking Capitalistismas and there’s money to be made and what’s a few deaths when those that love money want to accumulate more money? Seriously, why do we allow this sort of corporate crap to happen? Just another bit closer to going through that 1.5C above pre industrial times as well but hey that item made with human exploitation and suffering was sure worth it, wasn’t it?
I blogged this a while ago but nothing has really changed. In terms of a sustainable life we have to get rid of the “My car” lifestyle in town and city centres. The “My car” society needs to be replaced by shared resources and public transport along with re-purposing building in these areas and changing parking spaces and driveways into green spaces bringing cleaner and greener habitable places to live.

The marketing and advertising industries have been pushing the unsustainable dream life for those with enough money in their pockets and bank accounts for decades. Meanwhile countless numbers of 3rd world workers and their environment have been sacrificed to maintain this neoliberal drug fueled party for those 1st world party goers that are able to get into the club. Thankfully, some are waking up to the fact that the party has gone way too far and on for way too long. Hence some suitable rebellion like this climate change graffiti. Some in polite society may call this vandalism but when big money and fossil fuel corporations have been the neoliberal drug dealers supplying the party goers this is one of the only ways of fighting back.
I posted this on the 2nd of January last year. In this last year we’ve had COP26 but nothing has really changed apart the level of CO2 in the atmosphere has continued to climb. Another year has passed in the decade where we must make significant reductions in the amount of fossil fuels that are burnt. We must all act now.

The 2010 International Festival took place between the 16th and 25th of July and Les Machines de l’île, https://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/en/, were part of it and were spectacular and well received. Apart from a few moaners complaining about the loss of parking spaces during the few days of the festival. It’s really clever engineering. Photo from 24th July 2010.
Even if it is fundamentally polluting the planet and causing climate change because that’s how capitalism works. Somewhere on the outskirts of Asuncion as we made our way back to Buenos Aires. 30th November 2009.
