Can We Really Have Screwed Up This Bad? – Yes We Have

First posted in July 2018 and it has got a lost worse since then.

How much more evidence do we need before we admit that the industrial revolution has been a complete disaster for the environment and that our economic monopoly model of continuous expansion and consumption at the expense of exploited humans is deleterious to the life support systems and eventually to us.

Trashopoly – it’s no longer a game

This is a blog I did in June 2020 and we are in real terms still trashing the planet and its habitability for us dumb monkeys at an ever increasing rate.

June 2020

Humanity got lucky. Sapiens for most of their existence have been hunter gatherers. Depending on which hypothesis you follow we first evolved in Africa and then spread out across the planet’s surface. We became one of the most widespread species that have existed and possibly the only one of our size. For a lot of our existence we have had to deal with a series of ice ages and then for some reason during this last interglacial period we decided to settle down and started to plant crops and keep herds of animals. Our “success” if you want to call it that has happened in the last 12,000 to 14,000 years. Following our settling down we have been busy inventing things with little thought to their loading on planetary systems and instead on how useful they are to our individual lives. Nor have we considered our human numbers and what the combination of numbers and resource use has on the planet’s configuration. Few politicians, entrepreneurs, business leaders look at whether our progress is undermining the planet’s ability to support life. It becomes increasingly clear that humanity is playing the game of Trashopoly because it is trashing the planet with little understanding or care to what the future will be like.

A Sad Reflection On Our Convenient Lifestyles

New research shows just how dangerous the plastic waste is to turtles.

Whale Sanctuary – A Lost Opportunity

A proposal to create a whale sanctuary in the South Atlantic at a meeting in Brazil has been defeated. Unfortunately, words like developing and growth are always spouted as many governments, cultures, religions and financial systems have not come to terms with the fact that we are beyond the capacity of the Earth to support this many semi intelligent apes.

Earth R.I.P. – murdered by humanity’s stupidity.

How We Have Consumed The World

This latest study shows just how much damage we have done to this planet and how we need to change both our numbers and our lifestyles. We need a global one child policy now.

Wanton Damaging of the Environment and the Destruction of Exploited Labourers’ Work

Why do we allow corporations to get away with this? It is time that corporations and their executives were brought to answer for their actions. They enhance and further the us and them, the haves and have nots in our society.

UK Economy Failing Whether in EU or Not

The Guardian reports that some more brands are going to the wall and some are blaming Brexit for their demise. The real reason for the demise is that the unsound economic and morally offensive consumption of fashion made by exploited foreign labour and bought on ever more extended credit is not sustainable financially or environmentally. With 300,000 tons of unwanted fashion going into landfill and contributing to the plastic contamination in the foodchains it is clear to see that this is not a long term financial model and is in itself morally bankrupt.

And Soon There Will Be None

The sad state of our world as our greed consumes all that there is. There is no link between economic growth and the limitations of Earth’s systems and therefore we are exceeding the ability of the Earth to provide what we need. Humanity does not know the meaning of sustainability and many of its individuals do not care or even want to know.

R.I.P. life on Earth.
