Where’s Basil? – At home promoting his greeting card – Brown Bear’s Big Day Out

Brown Bear’s Big Day Out is a story about a bear in a zoo that puts on a disguise so that he can escape and visit a funfair called Dizzyland. It’s about looking at people in depth and not being afraid because they look different from you. So Basil looks like a man when disguised but is still the same friendly and hero bear in this case once his disguise slips.

The story contains illustrations throughout the text. These are then repeated at the back of the printed book so that younger children can colour them in. One of them can be seen below.

It was a rainy bank holiday Monday and there wasn’t much to do so Basil decided to get a photo of himself with one of his greeting cards. 26th May 2014.

We spent one year backpacking around the world between March the 15th 1999 and March the 15th 2000 with eight and a half months travelling around South America. The bus station at Coro was uniquely decorated although the buses that were running looked as if they were not much different to the parts hanging on the wall.

Green Path, Long Mynd, Shropshire

After having spent one year backpacking around the world between March the 15th 1999 and March the 15th 2000 we picked up our life in England again. For a few years at least part of our life was lived in Shrewsbury. From there in a battered Renault 5 Campus we drove around the roads of Shropshire and beyond and often took our cameras. One day with the wind blowing the clouds across the sky we took this photo. I was waiting for the sunshine to arrive and for the brief moment that it was there my partner took the photo.

We spent one year backpacking around the world between March the 15th 1999 and March the 15th 2000 with eight and a half months travelling around South America. This photograph was taken from a boat that we took from the Peruvian city of Puno to the reed islands and also to the island of Taquile.

As part of our one year backpacking around the world between March the 15th 1999 and March the 15th 2000 we spent a month in New Zealand. Part of that time was spent driving round the beautiful south island and one day we stopped in the small town of Roxburgh with a great fish and chip shop. Uyuni is a city in South West Bolivia and 3 km outside of it is an amazing train cemetery where we took this photo, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyuni. We named the photograph Clever Loco as someone had gone to great lengths to paint this Albert Einstein equation on the side of it. It is one of eight photographs that we made into a set of blank greeting cards. It was taken on an old Canon A1 camera.
