Busy Bee and the Silent Spring – About the story

Silent Spring is the second of my Busy Bee stories and is aimed at the 8-12 year old reader. In the story the bees have to find out why the creatures of the meadow are all feeling ill. They discover a farmer using banned pesticides but how can they stop him? The story covers various environmental issues. Some teachers at a school that keeps bees said of the story that it could, “form the basis for a whole curriculum of outdoor and nature learning!” and “All wrapped up in a story, children will love. The thing we like best is the multitude of topics all of which are such important starting points for vital conversations with young people”. Some other adults have enjoyed reading it too although some of them were beekeepers so maybe that doesn’t count. Some were also friends but not all of them.

Busy Bee and the Silent Spring is named after Rachel Carson’s groundbreaking 1962 book where she took on what was probably a very male dominated agrochemical industry. She was a very brave and intelligent woman who unfortunately died far too young.

The book is available globally as an ebook and printed book from Amazon. This is the .co.uk link, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Busy-Silent-Spring-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/B088JFN1ZV/, and this is the .com link, https://www.amazon.com/Busy-Silent-Spring-Paul-No%C3%ABl-ebook/dp/B088CRDNL4/.

Busy Bee and the Silent Spring – this is a review by the Scottish Beekeepers Association

As a writer how can you tell if what you write is enjoyable to read by others? Only by independent review in my opinion because friends and family may be too kind. I received a wonderful review of both my Busy Bee books by the The Scottish Beekeeping Association. The reviews are inspirational. I only hope that my fellow independent authors are also able to receive something like this to give them the boost they need. We all need those words to help us on the writing journey.

Busy Bee and the Silent Spring, one of the reviews I received

The Federation of Irish Beekeepers Association review

Yesterday I received a nice review of my latest book, Busy Bee and the Silent Spring from The Federation of Irish Beekeepers Associations.

As it’s the 31st of July this is the last day that I will be donating a part of each sale of any of my books to Kentish Town City Farm and Freightliners City Farm in London. For the month of August I will be donating a percentage of each sale to the Scottish Beekeepers Association. They have just reviewed both my Busy Bee books and I will be publishing a post on that soon. I have to say everyone is being very kind in their comments so far. Busy Bee and the Silent Spring is available at different Amazon sites. This is the link to Amazon US, and this is the link to Amazon UK.

The bees flying

This is an illustration from my story Busy Bee and the Endangered Meadow, the first in the Busy Bee series. In the story the bees discover that their meadow may be built over as part of a housing development so they decide that they need to find a way of stopping this from happening. Bea comes up with the idea of trying to fool people into believing that there is a rare species of bee living in the meadow. Will it be enough to stop the dastardly developers. The book is available from Amazon and there are two printed format, large A4 and 6″ x 11″, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Busy-Endangered-Meadow-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/B08BW5Y3CS/, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Busy-Endangered-Meadow-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/198320384X/, https://www.amazon.com/Busy-Endangered-Meadow-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/B08BW5Y3CS/, https://www.amazon.com/Busy-Endangered-Meadow-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/198320384X/.
