Most democracies are flawed

Why do I say that? Because they have stopped evolving. Part of that reason is that many people are fairly politically illiterate, they just don’t care or they are too busy to do anything about it. That’s just the way the political elites, the despots, the super rich and global corporations like it. We need system and economics change. There was a time and there still is in many countries that you were expected to fight for your country and maybe even give up your life for it. But what happened to your duty to make sure that your neighbour was OK or that the family two streets away were not suffering? We are divided by the political classes that rule over us and it is time for that to change. Switzerland has a system probably better than most but even there the number of people who vote is declining. Every human must have a right to have a say in their future so we must stop a small group of elites hijacking what is jokingly called a democracy.

Humans. Are we that stupid?

The answer is yes we are. Here’s an example. We take H2O and ship it all around the world when the place it’s coming from is complaining that they are in danger from sea level rise. Do you see the irony here or just the business case for continuing? Putting aside the issues of climate change what of the micro and nano plastic pollution that was found in the human placenta and only recently in our bloodstream? How long will it be before someone discovers that these particles and whatever they are attached to can cross the human blood brain barrier because we already know that is true for mice.

Individuals are still wasting food

Do you find it strange that even in these very difficult times that some people are still wasting food? Our food waste consists of cuttings and peelings. There seems to be a problem with certain individuals and their relationship with food. This has got to change. If you waste food then you cannot complain that it is too expensive.

The Gulf Stream and what it might do in the near future

Posted a year ago almost 2021 was an exceptional year for extreme weather events and it’s set to get far worse. Don’t be the little piggie in the straw house thinking that the big bad wolf of climate change won’t come knocking at your door.

This is an excellent piece by the New York Times on what may happen to the Gulf Stream in the near future because of the human primate’s burning of fossil fuels. We have effectively been “playing with fire” as a species and apart from the majority of the several thousand scientists involved in climate change telling us about what will happen if we heat the oceans and atmosphere, have been misled by global corporations centered on profit and wealth creation and their propping up of puppet governments. When the government fails the people, the people need to act

I posted this on the 1st of January 2021 and a year later people are still going hungry. We need system change.

All over the world there are examples of the political class failing the people in so many ways. They answer only to the rich one percent and to powerful corporations. It therefore leaves people to act for themselves until the failed political system can be truly wrested back into the interests of the many. Trashopoly – it’s no longer a game

This is a blog I did in June 2020 and we are in real terms still trashing the planet and its habitability for us dumb monkeys at an ever increasing rate.

Humanity got lucky. Sapiens for most of their existence have been hunter gatherers. Depending on which hypothesis you follow we first evolved in Africa and then spread out across the planet’s surface. We became one of the most widespread species that have existed and possibly the only one of our size. For a lot of our existence we have had to deal with a series of ice ages and then for some reason during this last interglacial period we decided to settle down and started to plant crops and keep herds of animals. Our “success” if you want to call it that has happened in the last 12,000 to 14,000 years. Following our settling down we have been busy inventing things with little thought to their loading on planetary systems and instead on how useful they are to our individual lives. Nor have we considered our human numbers and what the combination of numbers and resource use has on the planet’s configuration. Few politicians, entrepreneurs, business leaders look at whether our progress is undermining the planet’s ability to support life. It becomes increasingly clear that humanity is playing the game of Trashopoly because it is trashing the planet with little understanding or care to what the future will be like.
