Homeless in Salto, Salto, Uruguay

We were fairly certain that this was a homeless person in a park in the city of Salto. Why are there homeless people in advanced societies? Why do we elect political representatives who wring their hands when asked why there are homeless people? Why aren’t we indignant at the fact there are homeless people. In the UK there are some evil people sitting on over 263,000 empty homes. These individuals are evil. 21st February 2012.

Salto dam turbine room, Salto, Uruguay

When we visited the Argentine city of Salto we took a trip to the Salto dam on the Uruguay river. It’s very impressive to see this type of engineering. I don’t know what the effects have been in terms of environmental loading and what it did to local ecosystems. Back in the 1970s when it was built those sort of considerations were perhaps not as important as they are today if they were at all. 22nd February 2012.
