A phrase that can probably be attributed to Extinction Rebellion and now used by numerous groups and individuals especially apparent in the younger generation. Those that realise that what has gone before can no longer continue if their generation and the ones that follow them are to have any sort of viable future. Busy Bee and the Endangered Meadow is a story about some bees trying to save their meadow from some evil, grasping housing developers. Bea is the hardest working bee in the hive and she comes up with the idea to try and fool the local council that a rare and endangered species lives in the meadow. The developers however are not going to let some bees get in the way of their profit but little do they know that they will be taking on all the creatures of the meadow in a fight to protect their homes.
In the UK we have lost 97% of our meadows since the middle of the 20th century much of them to the obesity of urban sprawl and a planning system unfit for purpose. Some research shows that meadows are very good carbon sinks, perhaps as good as forests. In the UK however, as in many other countries, the countryside has been built over.

Cycling is the best way to get around if the distance that you need to cover is further than you can walk. It’s extremely good for the environment and human health. First posted in July 2018 and it has got a lost worse since then.
How much more evidence do we need before we admit that the industrial revolution has been a complete disaster for the environment and that our economic monopoly model of continuous expansion and consumption at the expense of exploited humans is deleterious to the life support systems and eventually to us.
Posted back in 2018 and here we are in 2023 and we are using more rather than less plastic. Remember to try and reduce by choosing carefully what you buy and consume.
In searching how to reduce our consumption of plastic my partner came across these mouthwash tablets from georganics. The bottle is glass and the lid is metal. It would be great if they could sell refills in a plain cardboard box but hopefully that will eventually come.
