A moment of our time – part 36

Revisiting my A Moment of Our Time part 36.

Energy. We all need it, few if any, can survive without it in some way or another. The problem is that our need and our physical number has seriously altered the configuration of the planet.

A moment of our time – part 35

Revisiting part 35 of my A Moment of Our Time.

Part 35 follows on from part 34 that covered the subject of industries. It’s all about factories. The factories are contributing to climate change so we need to question what they are producing, the quality of the products, whether the products are actually necessary, what environmental damage will be caused in their manufacture and disposal and whether the workers were paid a wage that enables them to have a reasonable standard of living.

Factories

Think about all those factories and what they are making at that moment

Think about all those factories making furniture at that moment

Think about all those factories making buses at that moment

Think about all those factories making lorries at that moment

Think about all those factories making car components at that moment

Think about all those factories making luggage at that moment

Think about all those factories making medicine at that moment

Think about all those factories making plastic at that moment

Think about all those factories making packaging at that moment

Think about all those factories making TVs, phones and computers at that moment

Oh! Element of surprise – Scientist and Philosopher organic cotton T-shirt

An organic cotton T-shirt from our Scientist and Philosopher range with a Teemill base design with a joke about the elements.

A scientific joke. Scientists are very normal people too. Based on a Teemill image. Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet.

The T-shirt is available from our Teemill shop, https://junagarh-media.teemill.com/product/science-design-2-v1b/.

Human progress – Scientist and Philosopher organic cotton T-shirt

An organic cotton T-shirt from our Scientist and Philosopher range with a Teemill base design depicting the levels of pollution found everywhere on the planet.

Human progress, the result of how the human species treats the planet. Research has shown that the plastic pollution created by the human race can be found on the highest mountain tops all the way to the deepest ocean trenches. A sorry indictment of the human species. We really need to clean up our act because our recent couple of centuries history cannot be easily described as actual progress. Based on a Teemill image.

Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet.

The T-shirt is available from our Teemill shop, https://junagarh-media.teemill.com/product/human-progress-v1b/.

A moment of our time – part 34

Revisiting part 34 of my A Moment of Our Time.

This part of A moment of our time deals with industry. All over the world industry is pumping out CO2 allowing the Earth to trap more of the sun’s radiation. It’s a question of lifestyle but also of human numbers. We should have a right as modern humans to decent housing, food, water, energy and sanitation but by doing so there must be a finite number to the number of human primates that can be alive at any given time. We appear to be far above that number.

Industry

Think about all those industrial processes at that moment

Think about all those things being refined at that moment

Think about all those refineries refining oil into petrol, diesel and aviation fluid at that moment

Think about all those refineries making chemicals and plastic at that moment

Think about all those bricks being made at that moment

Think about all those bricks being transported at that moment

Think about all those bricks being used to make walls at that moment

Think about all those trees being made into other things at that moment

Think about all those tanks holding fuel at that moment

Think about all those newspapers being printed at that moment

Think about all those books being printed at that moment

Think about all those resources not being recycled at that moment

Think about all that recycling at that moment

Think about all that concrete being made at that moment

Think about all that concrete being poured to build buildings at that moment

Think about all that aluminium being smelted at that moment

Think about all that oil flowing through pipes at that moment

Think about all that gas flowing through pipes at that moment

As we read a flow of moments passes

Endangered Meadow book cover with title – organic cotton T-shirt for children

This is the cover artwork to my book Busy Bee and the Endangered Meadow printed onto a T-shirt but with no Scientist and Philosopher logo and just for children. It’s a brilliant illustration by Alice Wright.

We use the Teemill printing platform and therefore this is an organic cotton low environmental impact T-shirt from our Teemill shop, https://junagarh-media.teemill.com/product/busy-bee-and-the-endangered-meadow-book-artwork-with-title/. There are a number of other designs available on different themes.

The Story

Bea Bee is the most resourceful, hardest working and happiest bee living in a hive located in a beautiful meadow. One day she notices a new sign on the gate and goes back to the hive to get wise old bee to come to the gate with her and read the notice as she doesn’t understand all the words. The news is bad; the sign is for a planning application to build houses all over the meadow. Bea has an idea to disguise herself as a rare or endangered species in order to protect the home of all the creatures that live in it. Can Bea’s plan and her friends from the meadow find a way to save it from being built on? The story is available in printed and ebook form from Amazon.

A moment of our time – part 33

Revisiting part 33 of my A Moment of Our Time.

Part 33 of A moment of our time is all about farming. Farming seems to most a normal practice of everyday life. In regards to Earth’s systems it is not. Farming has come about in the current interglacial period, a mere blink of geological time and very recent even in the 7 million years of the branch of evolutionary history that represents our species’ antecedents.

Think about all the food that is wasted at that moment

Think about all the tobacco being grown at that moment

Think about all the coca being grown at that moment

Think about all the cotton being grown at that moment

And all in that same moment, a moment that has passed more than a few moments ago

An organic cotton T-shirt from our Scientist and Philosopher range.

Revolution is often associated with the colour red. Evolution with the colour green. The science of evolution is a revolution and even now causes controversy around the human world.
