Professor Phew and His Very Special Cat – Chapter 1

A tale of an eccentric inventor and a rather different cat. Mara looks on. What’s the professor working on now?

The story

Professor Peter Phew is a very clever man who invents devices and machines, things that are practical, things that are not so practical and things that are downright impossible either to build, or if they could be built, then to use. His greatest invention, perhaps, is his time and space travelling machine that when normally disguised looks like a portaloo. Why a portaloo? Well, nobody notices them when they arrive or disappear. Have you seen one recently? Is it still there? It could be the professor.

A very special and mysterious cat called Mara lived in Peter’s house. Mara’s completely black with piercing green eyes. She seemed to have changed since she and the professor fell out feeling very dizzy one day from of one of the machines that he had built. The experience appeared to have given her some special powers that even the professor could not understand and that she is certainly not going to let him know about.

Read all about their adventures in and around their town, Eldington, as Mara helps the professor and keeps an eye on his chaotic life. There are some problems to solve and the professor’s machines will certainly help him and Mara to sort them out. But she is certainly not going back in the machine again that made her very dizzy.

The wonderful cover and internal illustrations are by Alice Wright and can be seen throughout the book.

Celebrating pirates – an illustration from Clever Dad and the Pirate Ship

Tristan’s father builds him a pirate ship on the promise that he will be a good pirate. He sets sail and discovers that he needs to go to Polysneezia because some really bad pirates are digging the whole island up looking for money. Can he persuade them to leave before they cause the island to sink?

This is one of Gerry Newton’s illustrations for my first Clever Dad story that is available from Amazon as a printed or as an ebook. This illustration is one of the additional ones that are located at the end of the story and that are there to be coloured in.

The story is available globally from Amazon. This is the .co.uk link, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clever-Pirate-Ship-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/1980869561/, and this is the .com link, https://www.amazon.com/Clever-Pirate-Ship-Paul-No%C3%ABl-ebook/dp/B08BPLDLL6/.

I’m working on the third installment of Clever Dad but in the meantime both this story and Clever Dad and the Space Rocket are available on Amazon.

We now have available through our Etsy shop blank greeting and invitation cards cards of the cover artwork. Available in larger numbers if required, https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/JunagarhMedia.

The idea for a dragon – an illustration from Clever Dad and the Pirate Ship

Clever Dad and the Pirate Ship is the first Clever Dad adventure story that I wrote where Tristan’s father builds him some very special toys.

In this story, Tristan arrives at the island of Polysnezzia only to find that there are some real rough pirates digging up the island looking for treasure. They are not to easily be scared but maybe they would be if they saw a dragon. The problem is nobody really believes in dragons especially not some rough, tough pirates. The book is illustrated throughout the text and these are repeated at the back of the printed book for younger readers to colour in. The book is also available in ebook format.

The story is available globally from Amazon on different sites. These are the links to .co.uk, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clever-Pirate-Ship-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/1980869561/, and .com, https://www.amazon.com/Clever-Pirate-Ship-Paul-No%C3%ABl-ebook/dp/B08BPLDLL6/.

The Lost Marble – Another soft landing, he was lucky

The Lost Marble is a book about a marble that falls from the pocket of a boy who has many and then has to find its way home with the help of several characters.

Having been thrown high up in the air the marble is lucky once more landing softly in some vegetation.

It is the book that I wrote for the 5-7 year old reader although it could be read to younger readers as it is quite a simple story. I also produced it in two versions. Although this one has illustrations to colour in, the second one, The Lost Marble Colouring Book has less text, one line per page and more illustrations. This simpler version is for the 3-5 year old age group.

Both are available globally from Amazon. These are the .co.uk links, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Marble-Paul-No%C3%ABl/dp/1790481295/ and https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Marble-Colouring-Book/dp/1704907373/. The Lost Marble – The marble is on the move

The Lost Marble is a book about a marble that falls from the pocket of a boy who has many and then has to find its way home with the help of several characters.

After the sun has risen the marble starts to roll his way home but he ends up going too fast and is in danger of crashing over the high kerb. Nobody plays with broken marbles so he’s in danger.

It is the book that I wrote for the 5-7 year old reader although it could be read to younger readers as it is quite a simple story. I also produced it in two versions.
