Science – organic cotton bag

An organic cotton bag from our Scientist and Philosopher range.

Sadly it seems science is still not taking first place in the decision making processes by governments on our collective future. Only by reading the science and listening to the scientists will we find solutions to a sustainable future. Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet. You can even send these items back to be made into new things when you have finished with them. (S&P)

The bag is available from our Teemill store, https://scientistandphilosopher.com/product/science-squares-v1b-shopping-back/. The design is also available as a T-shirt for adults and children.

Professor Phew and His Very Special Cat – Chapter 9

The news is good and bad.

The story

Professor Peter Phew is a very clever man who invents devices and machines, things that are practical, things that are not so practical and things that are downright impossible either to build, or if they could be built, then to use. His greatest invention, perhaps, is his time and space travelling machine that when normally disguised looks like a portaloo. Why a portaloo? Well, nobody notices them when they arrive or disappear. Have you seen one recently? Is it still there? It could be the professor.

A very special and mysterious cat called Mara lived in Peter’s house. Mara’s completely black with piercing green eyes. She seemed to have changed since she and the professor fell out feeling very dizzy one day from of one of the machines that he had built. The experience appeared to have given her some special powers that even the professor could not understand and that she is certainly not going to let him know about.

Read all about their adventures in and around their town, Eldington, as Mara helps the professor and keeps an eye on his chaotic life. There are some problems to solve and the professor’s machines will certainly help him and Mara to sort them out. But she is certainly not going back in the machine again that made her very dizzy.

The wonderful cover and internal illustrations are by Alice Wright and can be seen throughout the book.

CO2caine – organic cotton T-shirt

A T-shirt from our Scientist and Philosopher range. The first in our CO2caine series.

The human race is addicted to burning fossil fuels to the detriment to life on Earth. Carbon dioxide emissions have been released in large quantities since the start of the industrial revolution. The level now seen in the atmosphere has not been at such a level since before the start of this current series of ice ages around 2.58 million years ago. The implications are that parts of the planet will become uninhabitable and there will be mass extinctions of different forms of life which may include Homo sapiens.

Men’s Hedgehog – Do Not Disturb I’m working in the garden Pullover Hoodie

A men’s version of our Scientist and Philosopher hedgehog design pullover hoodie with the message “Do not disturb – I’m working in the garden”. If you are a keen gardener they can do wonders for you in terms of eating their way through slugs and snails and other creatures that might devour your hard work. With a hedgehog around you won’t need to use chemicals. So what do they need in return? Well first is a way into and out of your garden. They don’t climb so high fences are mountainous obstacles. So consider cutting holes at the bases of the fences you own and tell your neighbours why you are doing this. Secondly, they like wild places so a very neat garden although pleasing to the human eye is not really to the liking of hedgehogs. So sweep up leaves by all means but leave them piled up so hedgehogs can have some fun. It’s a two way street when it comes to hedgehogs, help them and they’ll help you. Remember though that if you create a wild space that you make sure not to use strimmers and other garden power tools as these can be deadly. So the message is support your local hedgehogs. (S&P)

Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet. You can even send these items back to be made into new things when you have finished with them.

We’re losing more than just ice in the Arctic T-shirt

Unisex version of our Scientist and Philosopher, We’re losing more than just ice in the Arctic T-shirt. The Arctic has warmed far more than many other parts of the world and in many ways its ecosystems are more fragile than those areas. We not only risk losing many species and in doing so seeing ecosystems break down but there are additional dangers for many species including us humans. It has been found that there are many dormant forms of bacteria and viruses that are capable of returning as the permafrost melts. We continue to burn fossil fuels at our and many other forms of life’s peril. (S&P)
