This is our first Scientist and Philosopher “Love your planet” design based around a Teemill base image printed on a shopping bag. It’s all about this limited planet we live on and what we are doing to it. Most individuals seem unaware of the collective effects of so many humans. Humanity has done incredible amounts of damage during this interglacial period ever since the species stopped, in the main, being hunter gatherers and started agriculture. Through those millennia the generations thought that the Earth was boundless and that it was there for the human primate’s exploitation. We are learning that this is not the case. It’s a changing planet and always has been. We cannot undo the damage we have caused but we can stop doing further damage by living within its limitations and allowing it to evolve naturally.

Do not disturb – I’m working in the garden – organic cotton bag

This is a Scientist and Philosopher organic cotton bag of our hedgehog design with the wording “Do not disturb”, “I’m working in the garden” printed on it. The design is also available as an adult men’s and women’s styles and child size T-shirt.

Hedgehogs, certainly in the UK, are in decline. They are an integral part of a functioning ecosystem and you should welcome them into your garden as they love munching their way through slugs, snails and other pests. Unfortunately many people who put in modern fencing forget to cut a hole allowing the hedgehogs to move from one garden to the next. So talk to your neighbours about building a super hedgehog highway.

We live in a very degraded and altered environment that is changing our planet and its processes and life support systems. New green technologies are being developed very rapidly but business as usual economics and hugely powerful and wealthy corporations and individuals are still continuing with their fossil fuel agenda. Philosophy – Brief Existence – organic cotton bag

A Scientist and Philosopher bag based on the Brief Existence photograph.

What is knowledge? What is reality? What is existence? Perhaps time to stop consuming ever more digital media and start thinking and asking why. I took this photo in Place de la Palud, Lausanne, Switzerland. A man was entertaining children by blowing soap bubbles. Against a blue sky it looks wonderful but the bubble only lives for a very short time. Many people in so many situations and parts of the world do not think issues through and just accept their life as the way it is. They are often told by others what to think and are not capable of critical thinking that is often looked upon unfavourably by those controlling others’ lives.

Where did all the ice go – organic cotton bag

In the Arctic the loss of sea ice could lead to the extinction of polar bears. The melting is all due to humanity’s burning of fossil fuels and the loss of ice can lead to a feedback loop since ice reflects more radiation than does the darker open water.

This is another organic cotton bag from our Scientist and Philosopher range that we have produced on the Teemill platform using one of their base designs. It’s about the fact that the clock is ticking and still people seem oblivious to it with many trying to still push business as usual agendas. In the 200 or so years of industrial revolution of progress, a blink in geological time, we have altered the planet’s system to such an extent that we have enhanced our risk of extinction. The fossil record tells us that most species go extinct over time and that includes nine other species of humans leaving only sapiens. In 2021 we must change our ways and start reducing our fossil fuel use. It could be a bitter pill to swallow unless you are prepared for it. This bag is handy because you won’t have to use a plastic one.

Imagine what the Earth looked like to an alien visitor some 7 million years ago before the human species started along its branch of evolution. Then think about what it looks like now and the damage that sapiens have caused, especially in the last two hundred years, the destroyed forests and wildernesses, the global plastic pollution, the live munitions discarded all over the planet’s surface, the staggering changes to the climate. We have a lot of reparations to make and we haven’t really started yet.
