Nature is being pushed into smaller and smaller corners of broken habitat as the human population grows way beyond any sustainable level with its demands for resources from a finite planet. If species are to survive we will have to consider stabilising human population numbers, reducing our resource extraction and getting out of much of the territory that we consider the human domain because of our human centric views. As we push deeper and deeper into the wilderness wildlife conflict becomes commonplace and the wildlife always loses out and then there is the danger of the 2019 corona virus pandemic. All down to human stupidity and greed.

Humans have many problems. One of the major ones is that we are divided by the imaginary lines that we draw on the Earth’s surface. The physical processes that run the planet and the life support systems that we so vitally depend on don’t recognise these borders and neither does extinction. If we don’t come together as one species and learn to live sustainably and within the limitations of the planet’s systems then we sapiens may go extinct just as the other nine known species of Homo, humans, already have.

The ideal size for cars in town and city centres. Ban the SUVs and blingmobiles. In most cases they are totally unnecessary. Share resources should be used instead of private car ownership in order to tackle climate change and excessive resource use.
