We took this photo of one of the world’s most recognisable buildings during our one year backpacking journey in January 2000. Like most people I guess it never occurred to us how such a complex building had come about. In 2019 I read about the death of a man originally from France, Joseph Bertony, who carried out 30,000 manual calculations by hand to create the sails. Incredible! Most of us live very uneventful lives compared to this man and his story is a most interesting one, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-47880938. His story will fascinate you so it’s definitely worth a read.
